Ghostly Boy In The Garden

Location: Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Central Scotland

Date: 1972

Being an investigator, our society receives a number of what claim to be ghost photographs, most of them (if not all of them) turn out to have natural explanations the vast majority of them being simulacrum (an image that looks very similar to something else, that image could be the way the clouds shape up in the sky which may look like a face, etc.)

Some years ago I received an old tattered photograph which on first viewing I didn’t put too much stock on until the lady who handed me the photo told me all about it.  And that’s the story that I am about to tell you.

The story goes that the lady who owned the photograph, we’ll call her Margaret, attended along with her husband, a private sitting with an Edinburgh medium by the name of Mr. Colin Grant.

“You have in a drawer, madam, a photograph which should be shown, for it is a very important photograph, for the photograph depicts a ‘spirit child.’” said Colin to Margaret during the course of this sitting.

Margaret and her husband were quite taken aback at this and once home they dug out their old photographs and sure enough, on one of them taken in their back garden in a strawberry patch in 1972, they saw in the middle of the photograph their son Kevin and an “extra face”.

This “extra face” was clearly visible right next to her son Kevin’s face, looking up at him.

How she had never noticed this before she told me was quite incredible.  Margaret told me that the spool was developed in the old Bank Street studios in Alloa (now demolished). She found the person who developed the photograph and he explained to her that it couldn’t have been a double exposure (which is always a candidate for ghostly photographs) as the camera was quite old.  Strange thing for a photographer to say, but say it he did.

Margaret unfortunately couldn’t recall the make of the camera.  Not only that, she went on to inform me that there had been no deaths in the family, and as far as she could recall, nobody had died in that street in the time that she had been there.  She showed all her immediate family members this photograph but not one of them said that they recognised this “ghostly boy”.

So, who was he?  Was it just a double exposure, or could it have been a spirit child?  One thing is for sure, there is no denying the fact that “something extra” has appeared on that old black and white photograph.

Another puzzling aspect of the ghost experience is that some ghosts can be seen reflected in mirrors whilst others are not, and some are only seen in mirrors and not in the room. Why?

Even more strange is the fact that some ghosts cast shadows whilst others don’t. Again the question: why!  What type of mechanism is working that some ghosts are seen with shadows whilst others are not?

Moreover, do ghosts know that they are dead? Do they know that they are walking around stately homes and the like for years upon years?  What components make up their new ghostly form? As already stated, some ghosts can be touched and appear solid whilst others are not.  Why do some ghosts  appear several years younger than they were when they died? If ghosts are spirits living in a new world, surely there would be no need for them to be clothed in the clothes of a “past life”. Who is the wardrobe mistress? Author Hilary Evans made a good point when he stated:

If they are truly spirits from another world, there should in principle be no reason for them to wear clothes at all. Whereas clothing is important to us living persons, to help us cope with the climate or to conform with social requirements this would not seem to apply to those who have moved to another world.

There are also stories which concern people blowing cigarette smoke at ghosts only for that smoke to part upon striking the ghost.  Why is it that when a ghost is seen in a darkened room and someone switches the light off, the ghost disappears.  Does the electric light somehow interfere with them manifesting in the room?  It may well be so.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Malcolm Robinson

As a researcher on the paranormal, Malcolm Robinson takes from his files incredible tales of ghosts and paranormal events.   He also shares with us his own ghostly encounters of which he has had more than his fair share.  His book, Paranormal Case Files of Great Britain (Volume 1) Malcolm Robinson Investigates, covers some amazing cases, from haunted council houses to haunted castles.  Robinson brings forward personal accounts from people who have had first hand dealings with ghosts. Their testimony will shock and in a court of law this testimony would be hard to dismiss.

Robinson has lectured extensively on UFOs and the Paranormal all over the UK, Ireland and Holland, and was the first Scot to lecture on American soil in Laughlin, Nevada, in 2009.  He has appeared regularly on TV in the UK and all over the world. He has assisted newspapers and radio stations with information on UFOs and the Paranormal.

In Paranormal Case Files of Great Britain (Volume 1) Malcolm Robinson Investigates, Robinson shows evidence of ghosts that will make even the biggest of sceptics sit up and take notice.  Britain is known worldwide for its ghostly tales and this book contributes to the growing testimony that shows that whatever we may think ghosts are, there is no denying that come what may, they are as real as the cases and the testimony from frightened witnesses.

Robinson takes a long look at many of the theories that abound about what ghosts could be.  At the end of the day, this is one of those books that is hard to put down, whatever one believes about ghosts.
