Local star power: Damon Abdallah in his role from 'Tempest'.

The Spokane Falls Community College Revelers opt for suspense, scary moments and a good deal of humor in their fall quarter production, “Dracula,” Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 10-13 and 17-20. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with 2 p.m. matinees Sunday, Nov. 13 (SFCC food bank benefit!) and 20. All performances are in the Spartan Theater, which is located in the SFCC Communications Building 5, 3410 W. Fort George Wright Drive.

Tickets are a suggested $8 donation at the door with first-come, first-served festival-style seating. Food bank benefit admission is the donation of nonperishable food items.

Written by John Mattera and directed by SFCC drama instructor Bill Marlowe, “Dracula” takes place in England where Count Dracula now lives next to an insane asylum. The eccentric cast of characters includes Renfield, a fly-eating lunatic, and Charles, butler to the Westenra family whose eyesight is so bad he can’t be hypnotized. The novel’s well-known vampire hunter Professor Van Helsing and the beautiful Lucy Westenra also figure in the play.

“Dracula” has a large cast of 23 actors and uses 10 technicians “because of the many special effects and extensive make-up,” according to Marlowe. Several former SFCC drama students also appear in the play, including Damon Abdallah (Dracula), Jeremy Lindholm (Dr. Van Helsing) and Dawn Hunter (Mina Murray).
