The church is run by Fr. Patrick McReynolds, a Catholic priest from Spokane who built the rustic Middle Ages style one-room chapel himself. The friar has taught classes on the Roman Republic, philosophers, and the collapse of civilizations and also conducts services at the Renaissance Fantasy Faire in Gig Harbor, Wash., in the late summer. Traditional Mass and the Lord’s Supper are offered in Latin or English during the run of the Northwest Renaissance Festival Saturdays just after closing and by arrangement at other times. Fr. McReynolds participates in the festival pageant and can be seen on the grounds in plum and cream-colored priestly Renaissance garb.

The graves are fictitious, of course. No one is buried on the grounds of the ren fair – are they?

By Sgt. Dave Reagan

A 44-year-old employee at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, died early Friday when the lawn tractor he was operating dropped off an eight-to-ten foot embankment and landed on top of him.

Co-workers found the worker trapped beneath the machine about 7:20 a.m. Friday and said he appeared to be breathing at that time. However, fire department employees pronounced him dead of apparent head injuries shortly after they arrived at the scene.

The worker had been mowing grass at the cemetery in an upper terrace area designated “hand mow only,” Deputy Mike Beckman reported.

The deputy said the machine the victim was operating has hand levers for steering, rather than a steering wheel. He said it appeared the machine bounced after hitting a depression. A wheel may have lost traction sending the mower over the embankment.

Described by employees as a “good worker,” the victim had been kept on at the cemetery after graduating from a work release program.

The name of the victim will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

By Ofc. Jennifer DeRuwe

On June 7, 2010, at 10:00am, Spokane Police Neighborhood Resource Officer Traci Douglas responded to a stolen property call at Buckeye and Stevens. Ofc. Douglas understood there to be a complaint that a large amount of potted flower bowls had been stolen from Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Division. It appeared as though those stolen flower pots were being sold on the corner of Buckeye and Stevens for $5.00 each.

Holy Cross Cemetery flower pot. Photo by Ofc. Jennifer DeRuwe

When Ofc. Douglas contacted the homeowner; she was told that a relative had given them the flower pots to sell. The homeowner indicated that she was not aware that she was selling stolen merchandise. A representative from the cemetery arrived and took possession of over 60 of the flower pots.

Holy Cross had sold between 700 and 800 flower pots to family members to place on the gravesites of their loved ones. The flowers were placed on those grave sites over Memorial Day weekend. Sometime over the course of two days, June 5-6, all flower pots had been removed from the cemetery.

Many citizens in our community have purchased the above flower pots and have inquired as to what to do with the pots they have purchased. Holy Cross Cemetery encourages citizens to return the pots to their cemetery; if they so wish.

If anyone sees the pots being sold in other locations throughout the city, they are urged to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233 and report it.

No arrests have been made; the investigation is continuing.

UPDATE! Charges filed…

After a two day investigation, Officer Traci Douglas determined that Robert P. Sullivan (4/2/65) stole over 150 flower pots from the Holy Cross Cemetery and sold them in his yard for profit.

Ofc. Douglas did an outstanding job of responding to the initial theft call and continuing an investigation that was very alarming to our community. Ofc. Douglas said Sullivan was cooperative, and he was not booked into jail. Sullivan will have to face charges of 2nd degree Theft (flowers pots valued at over $3750.00) and 1st degree Trafficking in Stolen Property.

Flowers were grown from seed and then planted in pots for family members to purchase for $25. Those pots were placed on grave sites throughout Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall. Sometime between June 4, 2010 and June 6, 2010, Sullivan removed over 150 of those pots without permission. He then sold those pots for $5 a piece in his yard, at Buckeye and Stevens.

Holy Cemetery requests citizens that purchased those flower pots from Sullivan to return them to the Cemetery.

Detectives sent a charging request to prosecutors this afternoon, requesting the Theft charges against Sullivan.

Love between humans and Extra Terrestrial visitors is not a rare concept in close encounter and alien abduction cases. UFO literature offers us a very rich variety of similar cases. My new work, Love in an Alien Purgatory: The Life and Fantastic Art of David Huggins, is the pictorial book about such a love story featuring paintings by David Huggins, the abductee.

I met David Huggins in a UFO group meeting in New York City around 2002. During that meeting I found out that he has been visited by some interdimensional beings since he was 8 years old.

Different types of Extra Terrestrials became a very important part of David’s life in all these years up today. His childhood, his early younger years and even his adult life were controlled and shaped by them. While he was looking for answers to these strange encounters, David decided to paint every experience that he was having as an abductee. In the process of creating this very unusual art collection, David started to live a double life.

The book cover.

During the day he was a “normal” man, an intellectual artist in New York City. But in the night he was falling in love with an Extra Terrestrial hybrid woman and having sex with her. He became the father of almost sixty hybrid children. David was chosen and used in a genetic experiment just like many other female and male abductees all over the world. This is the remarkable story that he brings to life with the paintings in Love in an Alien Purgatory.

David’s contact story starts in a farm where he was living with his family in Georgia in 1951. The first contacts were in the daytime and outdoors, where 8 year old David used to play as a normal and healthy boy.

During the early contacts, David was neither sleeping nor experiencing a sleep paralysis. He remembers very well the little hairy being with large glowing eyes who came out of the woods. David named him “Little Hairy Guy”. On another visit he had an encounter with a large praying mantis type being which would become a regular companion to David in the UFO encounters for many years. What any other children could see only in science-fiction movies or in fantasy books became a daily part of David’s life.

Soon, the beings started to come in the night time as well. And he was taken to a UFO to meet with the hybrid woman, Crescent. Crescent was a teacher and a guide to David at the beginning. But over the years she became his woman, his lover and the mother of his many hybrid children.

Getting ready to remember.

David had his close encounters with Extra Terrestrial visitors in different places. After he moved to New York City, his visitors came into his apartment through an opening in his bedroom wall. It was an interdimensional gate, maybe a stargate that was opening to a completely alien world. When they entered, David says it was as if time stopped. Were these beings controlling time in order to enter in our physical dimension? Were they time travelers? (Also, while David was getting older, the hybrid woman Crescent never changed in their 50 years of friendship.)

Crescent.

Love in an Alien Purgatory is a very brave book where both David Huggins and I share some very intimate details experienced between the interdimensional lovers. David tells the story without censorship in his paintings. And I bring my own interpretation from the view of a UFO investigator based on my own studies.

My investigations show that the concept of having sex with interdimensional beings existed long before the UFO and Flying Saucer age started. The very early Sumerian gods and goddesses were visiting humans with the same purpose. According to the legends, gods were not able to have children. But in order to continue their race, they started to use human females and males. They needed a new hybrid race that has both human and Extra Terrestrial characteristics. How successful were they, we don’t know?

Being touched by Extra Terrestrials or Interdimensional Beings, Jinns, Angels or Demons is never an easy experience in human life. The side effects vary with each individual. While some contactees and abductees are very happy to have this bond, others suffer deeply and suffer for generations. Many of the times abductees and contactees, and even the abduction and close encounter investigators, may face serious problems in their private life, marriage and relationships with their life partners. And in many cases ET contact goes from one generation to another as if the abductee’s DNA is coded or stigmatized by the visitors. When human DNA or human soul is stigmatized, a person can face and deal with a very unhappy karma shaped in the hands of the abductors.

Alien Abductions Today

Today we still don’t know the real purpose of ET abductions. According to abductees and contactees Extra Terrestrial beings avoid to give detailed explanation and information on the process. Based on the limited testimonials it seems that many of the abductions are serving a scientific-genetic related goal such as creating a new hybrid generation using both human and alien parents. Just like it happened in David’s case, thousands of abductees were shown their hybrid babies in the UFOs.

Baby in the tube.

Ancient history and mythology from Sumer to Mesopotamia, to my native country Turkey and to America show that a group of powerful and superior beings from the sky and from the underground always visited this planet for thousands of years.

There is nothing that we can do for the ancient cases, but we need to pay more attention to modern alien abduction and contact reports as these incidents are effecting human society both in emotional and physical ways. Although we hear more cases from The United States, alien abductions are happening almost in every country of the world.

Millions of individuals are describing being visited by Grays, Reptilians, Praying Mantis type beings or Hybrids. Many of these witnesses never paid attention to UFO sightings, science fiction or fantasy movies prior to their own experiences. They may be from every age or gender, from all different kinds of professional backgrounds.

On the first glance they have nothing to do with each other. But they share a very solid link between each other; almost all of them are inserted microchip implants. Implants for what? General tendency says that implants are used in order to monitor abductees’ physical and emotional conditions. Some of the implants were removed by surgeons who work in alien abduction field in United States. But the number of abduction researchers are very little all over the world comparing the vast number of abductees.

Medical doctor, surgeon, hypnotherapist, or psychiatrist abduction researchers have been trying to solve the puzzle with their own resources without getting any support from anywhere. Medical research also shows that abduction causes some physical changes in the organism of the abductee. These are the basic physical aspects of the alien abduction. But what about the psychological effects?

Not everybody’s response is same, not every abduction case or every Extra Terrestrial being is same. Some of the abductees come out from the experience with a very positive feeling. They don’t feel any fear and they believe that they are guided by positive beings. But for some of them the abduction is a very painful process overall.

After the abduction they develop fears, phobias, depression and obviously all these problems reflect their professional and private life. It seems that we are dealing with two very different sides of the coin. Yes alien abduction can offer both paradise or hell. David Huggins also had the similar type of unhappy incidents in his life. He didn’t have a paradise of alien contact, he wasn’t sent to the hell, but he was kept in a purgatory of aliens during all these years.

The alien purgatory still exists in his life, and the aliens will never fully leave him. Just like his love and passion for them. But isn’t that what love often is: a purgatory between two worlds, a place of desire, hope and fear?

By Laura Gardner and Michael Breckenridge

Prayer is a world renowned paranormal phenomenon that focuses energy on a person in need of relief, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. For those requiring their answers come from science instead of spiritual sources, the value of prayer has been documented in various hospital studies as positively affecting the outcome of patients undergoing medical treatment.

Who cares if the source of the healing energy comes from God or from some mundane source, as long as it works? Even if it worked only half the time or a quarter of the time, aren’t those good enough odds to put one’s hands together or bow one’s head and focus on the well-being of the patient?

Apparently some doctors are so caught up in prayer’s historic link with religious practice they are unable to bring themselves to even try using it as an adjunct to conventional treatment. Would they rather “play God”, so to speak, than to endure the “embarrassment” of being seen praying in public? Do they feel this would undermine their practice of medicine?

What happens when the families of sick and dying hospitalized children ask their physicians to pray with them, or for them? How do pediatricians respond to such personal requests? While increasing numbers of physicians say that religion and spirituality help some patients and families cope with serious illness, a new study reports that it is almost always the families and patients who raise the issue of prayer, not the doctors themselves.

In a recent issue of Southern Medical Journal, Brandeis and Rice University sociologists reported for the first time how physicians actually respond to personal requests for prayer. The study suggests that medical education could be enhanced by courses that address the topic of prayer, which is embedded in complex situations and is never as simple as praying or not.

“We know that prayer in physician-patient interactions is attracting more attention,” said coauthor Wendy Cadge, a sociologist at Brandeis University. “Most research in this area focuses on whether physicians and patients think prayer is relevant, but in this study we wanted to find out when and how prayer comes up in the clinic, and how physicians respond.”

The researchers conducted in-depth interviews with 30 academic pediatricians and pediatric oncologists at 13 leading academic medical centers around the country. They found that prayer is not a regular topic of discussion with patients and families, but it does come up more often for pediatric oncologists than for pediatricians. Families most frequently raise the topic of prayer in response to a seriously ill or dying child, Cadge said.

The study found that pediatricians respond to requests for prayer in one of four ways: they participate in the prayers; they accommodate the prayers but don’t participate; they reframe the prayers, or they direct the families and patients to other religious and spiritual resources like hospital chaplains.

A few physicians joined in prayers with families and/or participated in religious rituals, like baptism, at the bedside. Many more accommodated prayers but didn’t actively participate in them. Said one physician: “I participate in prayers. I mean in the sense that I generally sit quietly and listen to their prayer in what I hope is a respectful manner.” Another explained, “I remember a case where everyone was standing around a bed and the family wanted everyone to bow their heads with them and I did it out of respect for the family.”

A third group of pediatricians reframed the prayer requests in ways they think are more realistic and appropriate, said Cadge. As one pediatric oncologist explained, “I try not to bring myself into it, because I don’t want this to be about me, and I don’t want the family to think I have more power to cure their child than I actually have.” The fourth group of physicians responded to requests for prayer by referring patients and families to other resources, such as the family’s religious leaders or hospital chaplains.

“Our study showed that the situations that give rise to requests and physicians’ behaviors in response are more complex than simply praying or not praying,” said Cadge. She added that all of the physicians wanted to be respectful of families’ prayers even if they did not want to participate or share the family’s religious or spiritual beliefs.

Regardless of the issue of religious connection, considering how many times doctors fail their patients, they’d be wise to start praying more often.
